many years of service I don't know the particulars of the other respondent, but I can say without reservation that Dr. Spellman is a superb vet. He saved my dog's life as a puppy when she had Parvo, and showed me how to keep her alive in the week or so when she was fighting the disease. I had to take her home because I couldn't afford to pay to keep her in the Vet 's care during her recovery, and he gave me detailed instructions and the required medicine and let me take her home. I don't think that shows a proclivity to bein... read more

thorough, yet kind considerate to your checkbook :) being new to austin, i was a bit apprehensive as to who i would trust with my dog. after calling several different facilities, dr. spellman's friendly staff and prices brought me in. today was my first visit with him. i REALLY appreciated him explaining several preventative measures i'd not thought of. he was kind to bring them to my attention now, and under the same exam fee- as to not pay a lot more in the future. i feel GREAT about the steps i took to ensure my dog's hea... read more

North Lamar Veterinary Clinic DOES NOT CARE FOR ANIMALS ONLY $ Took my cat in three months ago. Vet had to run $300 worth of test to tell me something that I already knew. My cat had an urinary tract infection and his kidneys were not working properly. Learned how to give subcutaneous fluids. Cat did well for about three mos. Now has started to show signs again. Called the vet to purchase the fluid and needles. He would not let me until he ran more tests again. I don't have the money and told him so. He was unwavering. I tol... read more

Great Vet! My husband & I have been taking our pets to Dr. Spellman for over 20 years. We have always had up front and honest service from Dr. Spellman and his staff. He has even had to put down two of our beloved Golden Retrievers over the years (due to old age/cancer) and was so very kind and sensitive to our heartbreak. We will continue to take our precious Goldens to Dr. Spellman until he retires. We even drive farther to see Dr. Spellman, even though we have vet clinics closer to home.

Wish we found yall sooner! Our newly adopted rescue has been to NLVC MULTIPLE times in the past couple months. Dr Spellman is GREAT with our dog and takes his time talking to you about whats going on. This clinic NEVER tried to charge us for unnecessary treatments or testing! Dr Spellman and his staff were upfront about the costs of everything and it was obvious they really cared. They even gave us a smaller dose of medication to hold us over a couple days till we got paid again (we had JUST spent almost $500 taking him to a... read more

From the Heart Last year I bought a miniature dachshund for my daughter for Christmas.. It had been years since we had to take care of a puppy. My daughter loved this puppy so much. One day when she was at school the puppy got sick. I took the puppy to several clinic crying frantically and all they wanted was money to treat the puppy for parvo. My last hope I called Dr. Spellman and he told me to bring the puppy in and he would help us. Arie will soon be 2 years old and is happy and healthy thanks to Dr. Spellman and his sta... read more

We highly recommend this vet. Dr. Spellman has taken care of our 8 year old Black Lab since he was only weeks old. We have found him to be very knowledgable, compassionate and professional. Our dog loves going there and is always very happy to see the doc.
