History Established in 1999. Head towards the black door with the green light, on a side street nestled in NYC's East Village, and you'll discover the infamous No Malice Palace. Opening it's doors in 1999, No Malice Palace quickly established itself as a local institution where patrons from all boroughs could congregate. With groovy beats and a laid back lounge vibe, a night out at NMP is nothing short of a quintessential NYC experience. Although the beloved founder Phil Sherman passed away, his benevolent and rambunctious l... read more

Forget "ehhhh," this place is cool – You know what? I've only been to this place 2 times, and both times were a bucketful of fun. I like this bar. I've lived in Alphabet City for 3 years but only discovered the aptly named No Malice Palace recently, and in addition to having a great name, the staff is nice, the people look good, and the atmosphere is a refreshing balance of hip and friendly. Pay the Palace a visit, I say.
Ehhhh – Went here on Saturday night. Not very impressed. It was sooo dark and loud and way too crowded, you need supersonic earplugs and night vision goggles just to get by. Was glad to leave. The only decent thing was the drink prices. $10 for two beers and a cranberry & soda.
Who let all the kiddies in? – Before it filled up on Saturday night, this place looked promising -- comfortable setting, nice lighting, lots of room, but then it filled up with obnoxious drunk 22 year olds in lip gloss and halter tops. Horrible DJ, ridiculously overpriced drinks -- $4 PBR?! -- and horrible atmosphere. If you're looking for a laid back bar to drink with your friends, go elsewhere, but if you're looking for a meat market, you'll love it.
sweet place – great service, hip music, relaxed atmosphere, stiff drinks from HOT bartenders. excellent female DJ when I was there on friday. no cover either. had my birthday party there and the owner really took care of me.
My Favorite Bar Ever – This loungy intimate space heats up every weekend night with a live DJ, stiff drinks and beautiful faces. I's a good idea to meet up with friends on the early side before the place gets too crowded. I often come on weekday nights when there is not so many people. Plus, the bartenders are hot! Try Sunday, Monday or Thursday nights, you'll know what I mean... Overall it's a great place to have different kinds of experiences depending on when you stop in.
Don't look for a name – no name on the joint. Look for the green light. This place was packed by 1am like most other posters said, but you can find places to chill with a lot of space. Most people just hang out towards the front, move to the back where the couches are to chill. Drinks made well, music was alright, thought it was a tape for a while.
great local bar – perfect hangout. the bartenders remember your name, buy you drinks, and chat away. plus, everyone is pretty easy on the eyes. come before 11 on thurs-sat: otherwise, it's packed with people from uptown looking to slum. they're annoying; the bar isn't.
A Tight Spot – this place is really tight. The music is not updated. I don't remember the atmosphere cuz it was to darn crowded to see anything. I think there was a party going on. And they let practically anyone in. If you hate crowds, don't go.
Pssss...can you keep the secret? – No Malice Palace is a great time! Very cool staff and the crowd is very friendly every time I have even been there. The drinks can get pricey, but they tend to be stiff. Get there after 11:00 when the crowd picks up, and your eyes will have a lot to enjoy. Lots of beautiful young ladies for the guys, and attractive hipsters for the girls. Just wish the music varied a little more. They play tons of hip hop, then a little trip hop (which is awesome, but not played frequent enough). Bring your... read more
