History Established in 1999. Head towards the black door with the green light, on a side street nestled in NYC's East Village, and you'll discover the infamous No Malice Palace. Opening it's doors in 1999, No Malice Palace quickly established itself as a local institution where patrons from all boroughs could congregate. With groovy beats and a laid back lounge vibe, a night out at NMP is nothing short of a quintessential NYC experience. Although the beloved founder Phil Sherman passed away, his benevolent and rambunctious l... read more

Good Birthday Party Spot – I had my birthday party here last year and it definitely did the trick. I was looking for something a little more dressy than an Irish pub/sports bar, but nothing too pretentious or clubby, and this was a great in between. We got there around 10/10:30 which was early enough to score some couches (crucial for bags and coats) and we danced the night away in the dark bar. Overall I was very pleased and would definitely revisit.
friendly, lively, up for it crowd – Great bar, awesome tunes and a fun crowd filling the dance floor. Barman mixes one of the best Apple Martinis in the blink of an eye
awesome – id been here once and the muzik was soo good i had a bday party here a few days later. loved it compared to other places that tried to charge me an arm & a leg!! i needed seating for 15 but only got enough chairs for about 6 ppl but we were dancing/at the bar all night so it didnt really matter i met mad cute boys that night nd the bartenders/bouncer were really cool & nice each time i went. theres an AWESOME pizza place across the street (yummy drunken eats) and near a few other (less fun) clubs. its not in a grea... read more
great, friendly service – Fun, lively and loud...drinks are fairly cheap, bartenders are quick and friendly (especially Jonah!) and the music is great. will be back soon.
real new york bar, one of my faves – I have been to No Malice a few times and it has always been a great place to hang out. On the weekends they have awesome d.j.s and music to dance to, and there is a great energy in the place. All the staff have always been very friendly, even though it gets really busy. Sometimes i've had to wait to get in, but its always worth it and i've never had to wait too long. I live in the east village, and i've stopped in a couple times on the weeknights and its been a really relaxed neighborhood... read more
Bouncers are the worst – A friend of mine was having a birthday thing there. Unfortunately there was a line, but fortunately a couple of his other friends had already arrived and let me jump into line with them. I understand it's a pain to be a bouncer in the city. I've been here 10 years and for the most part I just take it in stride. The whole time the bouncers were hassling the people waiting, organizing us oddly into two parallel lines and telling us not to face each other so it was weird even talking when we were waitin... read more
Terrible Service -- They Overcharge you! – Terrible place! The bartender charged me 18 bucks for two amstel lights (he said they only had 2 beers and no draught). Then I ordered another 2 amstel lights from another bartender and he charged me 12 dollars. When i closed my tab and left no tip for such ridiculousness, i was asked "did you have a problem with the service." when i told the other bartender what had happened, he just shrugged his shoulders and basically couldn't care less. I won't ever go back.
Low-key hideaway deep in the East Village revs up on weekends for a full-fledged party scene. – No Malice's unmarked black exterior hints at a scruffy, biker bar edge, but a venture inside finds wide-planked hardwoods, old-school tin ceilings and wall sconces casting a mellow garnet haze. Crunk and reggae fuel a no-nonsense crowd of workaday locals taking shots at the bar or kicking back on the well worn couches toward the rear. Come Friday, a live DJ spins mostly hip-hop for a boisterous weekend mob. Hits: The no cover poli... read more
You're beautiful. Don't ever change!! – So I recently moved to NYC and I'd been missing my old watering holes in San Francisco. Nothing around here seemed to make me feel at home. A good friend of mine asked me to come along on a Friday nite to what she called the biggest, baddest hole in the wall bar of all time, the No Malice Palace. While I'm not one to take another's opinion at face value, I was intrigued by the name. As soon as we walked in, I was completely taken by the atmosphere. The dim, red lights. The cozy living r... read more
