Dr Shastri is the finest gastroenterologist in the United States! He has treated my husbands achalasia and pancreatitis and literally saved his life! How we wish other doctors would listen carefully to what the patient is saying and not give a general diagnosis that isn’t accurate. He is THE BEST!
Zero stars. Caused an internal bleed on my mother that contributed to her death a few days after surgery . The team at Loyola failed to recognize this and had her on a heparin drip
I feel compelled to share my positive experience with Dr. Shastri. He took the time out to explain things to me so that I could understand and was focused on patient education. I was nervous going in not knowing what to expect, but I’m happy to share Dr. Shastri made me feel comfortable and at ease. He is easy to talk to and willing to listen and answer all of your questions. Not only is he a terrific doctor he has a kind soul. Thank you Dr. Shastri!
Unfortunately after my father underwent a specific procedure with Dr. Shastri at Loyola via Outpatient for a rare diagnosis back in June 2021 and to-date his office has failed to follow up in a timely manner as we were told would happen given how “rare” his polyps are. My mother who has her own health issues and cares full time for my adult sibling with Autism and IDD has also tried calling his office many times only to be told someone will get back to her to no avail! Not all doctors are equal, However Dr. Shastri and others I have been cared for in the GI professional staff stand out as excellent in their care for me, not as a physician but as their patient. An emphasis on doing the best they can for the patient is essential and the two GI physicians who have cared for me exemplify the ideal qualities. No institution has all physicians that meet the standards I tried to exemplify as a physician and as they have cared for me.
