Nestled in Little Tokyo, the Japanese district of Los Angeles, this branch of Nijiya Market sells East Asian groceries and produce. Browse through this supermarket to search for ingredients to prepare Japanese meals, where you will find seaweed packets to make sushi, organic sweet rice, flour, dried grains and beans, organic herbs and vegetables, matcha (green tea) and confectioneries such as Green Tea Kit Kats. One can also shop for boxed lunches, fresh seafood and meat, liquors including sake, rice balls and rice cakes.

Great for Asian ingredients/groceries This little store has a really great variety of produce, Asian ingredients and food, and other groceries. They even have pre-packaged meals that you can heat up and eat in a small eating area outside! One of the cons, though, is that they're kind of pricey, and sometimes the people aren't too helpful.
Perfect place to buy Japanese snacks This location is smaller than Nijiya market in West Los Angeles, but it is perfect to buy some Japanese snacks and drinks when you visit Little Tokyo. Their selection of bento and sushi is nice.
Tiny, small selection. Why bother? The stuff they have here is limited and questionable freshness. I'd rather not and shop around Little Tokyo to satisfy a craving.

REVIEW FROM CITYSEARCH's 3BUCKBITES DICTATOR – Hot dog on a stick, cheesecake on a stick, spaghetti on a stick.you've gotta admit that state fairs and carnivals got one thing right with their on-a-skinny-piece-of-wood cuisine: it's easy to eat (and just more fun.) But if once a year just isn't going to cut it for you, get yourself to a Japanese market and try dango, precious Japanese rice flour dumplings (mochi-like) smothered in a teriyaki-like syrup of soy sauce and sugar, then speared with a stick. P.S. Fun fact: the main... read more
