Answers questions about n a manner that is not condescending. Although I have been seeing him only since Feb., he is very aware of all my conditions and takes those into consideration as he prescribes treatment. He is consistently pleasant and calls me by my name.

I have been under Dr. Hodgman care for 3 years now, and think he's the best. Very caring, but tells it like it is, no sugar coating. He knows what he's doing. Just do what he tells you and you'll be ok. I'm so glad he's my Cardiologist. He's the best.
No compassion. Doesn’t take time to talk or explain things. Many better doctors out there.
No follow up, no one picked up the calls in the office, appointments have been canceled 3 times. Complete mess and incompetent.
I do not recommend her at all! First visit I left in tears, second visit I left very mad. Hands down the worst doctor I have ever had. I never met a doctor who refuses to help people. She will push weight loss surgery and judge you if you don't jump on it. Went to see her for a hernia, and I was told to lose weight. I am in pain daily. Don't waste your time with her. Get a referral elsewhere.
If you're looking for an old doctor who loves performing surgeries and isn't interested in actually listening to you or helping you, Dr. Abernathey might be right for you. If you're looking for a doctor who is condescending and full of himself, he's definitely your guy! If you want a doctor who offers the latest non-surgical solutions and is willing to make surgery a last resort, I recommend looking elsewhere. He just isn't into that sort of thing. Too old and set in his ways, I guess?
Dr. Abernathey performed my back surgery in December 2020. If you want the best surgeon, you want Dr. Abernathey.
