I would give this place a half star or none if possible. The people who work there are horrible and need real training they argue with you more than listen. Honestly they are lucky they haven’t had a lawsuit after the Discriminatory factor of someone being disabled and not getting accepted because of physical Disabilities. On top of that, I know, for a fact, my child said that they even said out loud that they could possibly get sued for the actions they had took in there. Listen to the reviews, this place sucks! This was whatever months ago but I couldn’t keep quiet about this anymore. There were 3 or 4 staff and a counselor that were good and actually cared but the rest were bad! The staff were gossipers, swearing, and screaming at the clients! The group therapies were pretty much pointless as they talked about basic or unnecessary things that clients can easily go without. Keep looking. Do not go here. My daughter was in an extreme OCD state and was turned away on a Friday evening at 4pm in October because her anxiety/ OCD was at an extreme high (almost uncontrollable) from a 3 hr car ride from one facility to this particular one. Once she arrived, her and her driver were told the treatment “admitting team” had left for the day. This day, was her admitting day, the treatment team know this and were expecting her. Please stay away! A psych-ward stay is a 5-star vacation compared to Newport - and I genuinely mean that. There are entire websites filled with testimonies as well as countless one star reviews citing abuse that occurred at the facilities. Don’t make the same mistake I did and ignore them. There’s coercion, medical malpractice, psychological abuse, neglect, and assault going on at the Heritage location in Virginia where I was at.
