My child was on Lexapro and then Newport suddenly added Wellbutrin. I called and wanted to discuss the medicine and plan of care with provider. I called 3 times and the coordinator promised me the provider will call me back and she /he never did. It’s is absolutely wrong to start a child on a medication without proper education. When I called and tried to question why the Lexapro was not titrated up from 10 mg to 20 mg in place of adding another medication ( polypharmacy) or alternatively discontinue the Lexapro and trial th... read more

As a therapist, I've heard horrible things about this facility and would NEVER recommend a parent to send their teen here.

I would strongly caution families before choosing Newport Academy. Our experience raised serious concerns about transparency and how decisions were made regarding our child’s care. The conversation about discharging our child only occurred after we expressed concerns about their approach during a virtual session. Prior to that, there had been no indication that discharge was even being considered.
