Nelson Blue is New York's first New Zealand restaurant and bar. Resident Kiwi, Pauli Morgan, and co-owners, Michelle Casano and Vanessa Shum, opened shop around the corner from the South Street Seaport. This up-and-coming neighborhood couldn't have asked for a better addition. We offer Maori-inspired decor and New Zealand-inspired menus. We've got outdoor seating in the summer and a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge always. Our fun & friendly staff will knowledgeably recommend from our southern hemisphere wines, brews from al... read more

Upset I have to leave even one star - – Horrified by mean owner - have heard tales of him starting fights with patrons and dogs alike. If you want a frat house, the place might work for you?
Something a little different while feeling right at home (plus yummy lamb chops) – Just happened upon this little gem while looking for lunch at the Seaport and took a culinary gamble that paid off bigtime! I never write online reviews (this is my first) but felt I had to add my voice to the raves now vastly outnumbering the rants, deservedly so. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful in making recommendations, the wine list, featuring New Zealand, Australian and South American wines, was so good I asked for a copy ... read more
great bar food and winelist, delightful – This is a great place for hanging out. We like to order several small plates, entrees and share. the beef sliders, skewers, lamp chop lollipos. Love the salmon sandwich, scallops, and zuchinni fritters too. A really wonderful wine list. We love New Zealand Pinot Noir. What a discovery, that they make red wine all the way down there. Also discovered Meerlust Cabernet here from South Africa. They have wines from all over the Southern hemisphere, besides wines from New Zealand. Good pri... read more
Finally a new kind of restaurant in South Street Seaport – I spend a lot of lunches and dinners at Nelson Blue because I work in the area and they have reasonable prices for really good food. The other restaurants around are ugly and/or boring AND WAAAAY OVERPRICED. For just a simple dish or pizza it costs over $20, which is crazy even for New York. The other places are not as nicely designed as Nelson Blue, they look like a continuation of the horrible sight we see on Fulton Street. Most of them look like they were scrapped... read more
Great hang out bar downtown – A very well run bar... the way it should be done!!!! The decor shows so much attention to detail from the curved tables/chairs to the cool lighting. The bartenders are cool and friendly, as are the rest of the staff. Great appetizers. It's just a place you can hang with friends, or struck up friendly conversation at the bar. What more do you ask for??
Best Kiwi Theme Bar Restaurant in the USA – Recently visited this great place on a trip to NYC. Having spent 6 weeks in New Zealand some 20 years ago, it was great to see the native New Zealand Maori decorative theme throughout. It brought back some memories. A really sharp looking restaurant and bar to say the least. Awesome wine list, and even more awesome food. It's no wonder the Wall Street crowd I saw there after a recent Friday workday were in such great spirits. I wish we had a place like this in Miami. And there's a ... read more
fritters for life – The corn and zuccini fritters are to die for! Eat them once and you'll be back every week. Skewers are amazing too... great seasoning! fun-loving staff, and let me tell you, fabulous bathrooms! Check it out!
Like Being on Vacation!!! – Pauli is hands down the best bartender in the city! This place is all about making sure you have a great time at Nelson, and Just the right amount of people there: not too crowded, but a good selection of new friends, ladies, guys to talk to. Not into making new friends? Kick back and catch a Rugby game or two. The atmosphere is really cool- feels like I'm down in New Zealand on vacation. Decor is great- beer is better (try the Steinlager!) I can't rave enough about this place!!!
great food;excellent service; wear a suit or jeans; u'll fit right in!! – i love this spot. the staff is right on. the bartenders paulie and jamie (sp?) are the best. drinks are healthy (if u know what i mean) and reasonably priced for ny. try the chicken wings. u'll never go back to those fried wings again. food is exceptional. here's a secret while u r waiting for the bathrooms. they are unisex even though they say ladies and gents. trust me on this. the lines can get long.
