Nelson Blue is New York's first New Zealand restaurant and bar. Resident Kiwi, Pauli Morgan, and co-owners, Michelle Casano and Vanessa Shum, opened shop around the corner from the South Street Seaport. This up-and-coming neighborhood couldn't have asked for a better addition. We offer Maori-inspired decor and New Zealand-inspired menus. We've got outdoor seating in the summer and a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge always. Our fun & friendly staff will knowledgeably recommend from our southern hemisphere wines, brews from al... read more

This place is such a joke.
Go for a splitting headache, not a dinner! – My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times as we live in the neighborhood and eat out often. Last night we had a client in town who expressed an interest in fresh, simple food on the healthy side, so we took her to Nelson Blue. The music was so loud that we had no idea what the server was saying, much less what we were saying to each other. While the music has always been loud here, last nights' was incredibly overboard. There was only 1 waitress for the entire pl... read more
Excellent food but noisy – We wanted to try this place as we visited New Zealand recently and loved the country. We had a group of three without a reservation (they don't take them). We were lucky to get a table as they have very few. It's basically a bar with a kitchen. The kitchen does a great job, though. The lamb chops were superb and a generous portion (5). My wife had the venison and it was excellent as well. The third person had the scallops; likewise, excellent. We washed it down with a great NZ sauvignon blanc. The ... read more
Nelson Blue - A Crossover Bar/Restaurant, With A Smoking Hot Staff – Nelson Blue is what I like to refer to as a crossover vehicle. Like an Infinity FX45, its sporty, fast, hot and sleek, yet comfortable, smooth and dependable. By day, it's a can't miss Wall Street lunch spot. After work, slick (albeit currently humbled and much quieter) Wall Streeters schmooz clients while local hipsters and sophisticates alike enjoy the best Kiwi Panty Removers (a must try!) this side of Nelson, New Zealand in a relaxed, feel good ambience... read more
Vanessa is a fox!! – I had some friends invite me to nelson blue a couple weeks ago. I didn't know why they wanted me to go all the way down to the sea port but after i got there i got the picture! Hotties hotties hotties everywhere! Everyone that works there is smokin! The owner vanessa had the best smile and laugh and made our group really feel at home! Of course i wouldn't want to say anything to her face but in a sort of missed connections way i have a crush on you vanessa! xo
Great downtown lunch spot. Friendly, comfortable, handsome restaurant, different menu. – Have only been for lunch so no comment on those reviewers who have had different experiences at different meals, (I suppose a nightime werewolf like transformation is possible), but lunch is much better than average. Given the relative paucity of nice restaurants downtown (aside for touristy, or conventional italian or sushi) this should be in everyone's client repetoire. Nice fish dishes and welcome NZ flavor to the pies and lamb chops.... read more
A Favorite – Awesome food and friendly staff make this one of our favorite spots to eat and spend the evening! We've been here many times, and we've NEVER been disappointed.
Great find – I stumble upon this place while I was visiting the seaport. Great wine selection and tasty food. I was in the mood to try something new and was very pleased with the choices. I am very happy to find NB and will definitely go again next time I am in the area.
average pub, nice staff – I have been to NB a number of times and don't see the hype reviews to be totally truthful. The food is average, to me, the wine list nothing special. The service to be far too slow. The waitresses seem to socialize with a particular table and forget about the rest. Have come in with coworkers after work and have enjoyed ourselves. Would come back, but not for the food. I didn't find the crab cakes to be sensational, but I am originally from Maryland. A decent place, but nothing to write home about
