For $145 a night, you would expect at least a clean, properly maintained room and reliable housekeeping. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. We've encountered multiple issues throughout our stay, including bugs in the room, a leaking shower that was reported but never properly addressed, and unpleasant odors coming from both the shower and bathroom sink drains. This Navy Inn is great. The staff, both the front desk and housekeeping are very kind and respectful. Great views outside of the Inn, perfect walking distance to Liberty Station and you aren't charged for parking per night like you are everywhere else. It's an active barracks still so keep in mind it's going to be loud from time to time, but the noise stops at night. If you're expecting a Ritz experience, go stay at a Ritz. The rear parking lot is dark at night. Third floor room with no elevator would be a pain with a large suitcase. Motel-style rooms mean other guests are walking by the window which is right near the bed. The furniture is very worn; the chair had a hole in it. The holder fell off the wall when I pulled on the hand towel. The refrigerator ticked like a train 24/7. My mid-stay "room refresh" did not include clean towels. Now called “Navy Inn”. This is on Point Loma annex, not the main base at the mouth of the bay. 15 min easy bike ride to Old Town / NAVWAR complex. Clean and acceptable but no shade, no covered bike parking, not sure why the Navy can’t afford to update facilities with a $1 trillion defense budget. Paper thin walls, come prepared. WiFi by viasat is complete joke. Maintainers and staff clearly are dedicated and do a great job working with what they are given - lots of citrus and other plants planted / maintained by employees.
