Fast, inexpensive, usually great service, BEST take out! – Most people I know start to drool when they hear the word "Hani." Fried chicken fingers with american and swiss cheeses, lettuce, tomato, and mayo if you want wrapped in a warm pita (flatbread) The fries are best with pepper instead of salt.
Local favorite brings the addictive, greasy tastes of Coney Island--think chili dogs and fries--to the Motor City. – In Short Padded booths are the preferred choice of seating in this diner-like atmosphere. The set-up is simple, with menus already at the table and no separate fork for salads. All the usual suspects are on the menu: chili, Coney Islands, gyros, burgers and fish and chips. The Coney dog comes with all the fixings, including mustard and onions. Lighter dishes like soups or salads are available.
National is the way to go – National Coney Island is great. This one is cool, but you gotta try the one on Van Dyke and 12 Mile, across from the Tech Center. The biggest and the best.
First visit – Our first visit to this Coney Island was overall a good experience. My wife enjoyed her Gryo very much,I had chilly cheese fries and two traditional Coney dogs the food was awesome and the service was the best we had in long time. The restaurant could be a lot cleaner the floors and bathrooms were dirty. I would go back ,I have seen alot worst but I have also seen alot better in the cleaning department.
#1 resturaunt – National Coney Island has the fastest service, the cheapest food around, AND the best food around. If it wern't for Coney, there wouldn't be any more "decent" resturaunts around. MOST of the other resturaunts around give you something way over priced and that doesn't even look like the picture-and the best part about it-they take an hour to make it!
Awesome – If you're hanging out in Detroit late night, the Coney Island is a great place to hang out with friends and have a hot dog...real down to earth and ethnic. Definitely not going there to try to impress anyone, just to have a fun time. Servers are ethnic, kind of greasy spoonsy but real.
not the best – Didn't think their Dogs were that good. The Chili is a bit lacking also. Might be good if your to loaded at 3 in the morning to go somewhere else
I MADE A MISTAKE.... – I MADE A PREVIOUS ENTRY ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT. I MADE A MISTAKE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THIS ONE ON MACK AVENUE. I WAS REFERRING TO THE CONEY RESTAURANT ON GRISWOLD BETWEEN MICHIGAN AND LAFAYETTE. I THINK IT IS CALLED "AMERICAN CONEY ISLAND". PLEASE FORGIVE ME.
Greasy Spoon:( – The food and service at National Coney Island could both improve significantly! The food was greasy and tasteless. Cheap is not always the only factor!!!!
National Coney Island has a 4.3 star rating with 1,423 reviews.
National Coney Island is open now. It will close at 6:00 p.m.
