Very disappointed in this practice. I scheduled an online appointment and went at my scheduled time. I was told I don’t have an appointment and am not in the system. I call twice because the first person didn’t want to to deal with my questions as to why I have no appointment when it was scheduled so I was put through to a random department or ext and to call again. Doctors are good but office personnel in Coral Springs location is horrible. I referred my 76 year old mother to ADVANCED FOOT, ANKLE, & WOUND SPECIALISTS and she liked the doctors. Yesterday, she was having back trouble and arrived 10 minutes late for her appointment. She was told that she wouldn't be seen until at least 50 minutes because she was 10 minutes late. Horrible. Had to go to another Podatrist and get an mri and was diagnosed with a Shepard fractures and tarsal tunnel. Dr Vela refused to call my insurance to get an mri approved nor return my calls. He told his office manager to send me for pain management. I was extreme pain and the office manager tells me she doesn’t know why he didn’t call me back that he was too busy. Even called the answering service because the office staff didn’t get him to call me. Still no call back. Now I need surgery.

I am sorry your experience was not what you were seeking. The "Shepard's" fracture is likely a symptomatic Os Trigonum outside of an acute injury. Tarsal Tunnel is not something that can be typically diagnosed with an MRI and usually requires a NCV study but even those can be inconclusive. I did call your insurance to get the MRI authorized with a peer to peer call and it was denied. I wish you the best and I hope you obtain the relief you need.

Dr. Vela did Achilles heal lengthening surgery. He was patient in answering my numerous questions giving me the courage to get surgery done. SUCCESSFUL! The staff deserve high 5’s for professionalism and kindness. I highly recommend Dr. Vela.
I had torn my Achilles last Aug (2017). I was able to see him the next day and have surgery several days later. Dr. Vela has been the most patient doctor, explains everything, and answers my many questions. Although my recovery is lengthy, he has been there all the way. I could not be happier than I am about Dr. Vela. I just made my one year checkup appointment.
I had a HORRIBLE office visit with another podiatrist in the area before finding Dr. Vela on HealthGrades.com. Dr. Vela is underrated! He works with great patience, attentiveness, passion and expertise, and it is MOST appreciated! Dr. Vela gave me hope that with proper care and treatment, I could work through my plantar fasciitis. His staff are down-to-earth and absolute sweethearts! I was sad (but grateful!) on my last follow-up visit with him. I highly recommend!
I had three visits with Dr. Vela for a Plantar Fasciitis problem in my left foot, probably exacerbated by a spinal stenosis/neuropathy problem I've had for several years. I found Dr. Vela to be a proficient and caring individual. After X-ray and sonogram tests, he proscribed a successful ibuprofen, ice water soak, and stretching/walking regimen that took care of my problem. Dr. Vela has an excellent and friendly front office and nursing staff. No waiting time on all three appointments.
I have been going to a lot of doctors over the last two years and Dr. Nathan Vela is by far my favorite doctor/surgeon. He has a wonderful bed side manner and takes his time with you. He is a great listener and takes the time to explain things to you. I have been going to this doctors office for a year now on a monthly and sometimes biweekly basis and each time I go I feel like I am with family. I know he truly cares about the well being of his patients. Marcia and Paula are fantastic too!!
