BEWARE of Continental Mazda. I went in and purchased a NEW 2017 *** ** from them. They made it a point to tell me the car is NEW even though it is 2 years old. Sure they were very nice and professional when I was going to drop $$10000's. I made the purchase because the *** is a great car. I knew I was paying more than similar cars on the market because it was NEW as opposed to the risks of a used one. I decided it was worth the extra because it was NEW.....Well 2 days later, while washing the car I discover a chip in the paint, most likely from someone opening a car door into it AND the damage had touch-up paint on it. SO, the stealership tells me to bring the car back and they will "do everything they can". I do that and they keep it for a day. I get a call to pick up the car. The damage is still there. The only thing they did was clean off the door. After waiting for almost 1 hour, Sabrina ******* tells me that they did everything they could. I disagreed with her saying that they did not do "everything they could" that they did what they are willing to PAY for because paint damage could be repaired. To which she replied that they were NOT going to send it to a body shop because that cost too much. She also warned me that the paint is 2 years old and faded and that repainting the car could look worse. I was thinking, what kind of repair facilities do they use??? In my opinion, doing "everything we can" means FIX the damage that occurred prior to the sale. Apparently at Continental MAZDA it only means everything they are willing to pay for. So, fast forward, after a couple of emails to MAZDAUSA customer service CONTINENTAL MAZDA offers to buy the car back- but at a depreciated price or $500 toward a paint repair. BUT, the repair has to be done at a shop of their choosing. I take the bait to see how they are going to treat me. I go to get the estimate from their chosen body shop. The body shop knows I am coming. SURPRISE their quote is $100's of dollars more than the quotes I got independently. I would not be surprised if the stealership and the body shop made an agreement to mark up the estimate so that I end up paying all the cost and the $500 they are contributing is just dressing. I even tried to offer them to walk away by giving me the $500 in cash and let me choose the body shop and take full responsibility for the work. That seems to me to be a better resolution than keeping them in the middle of the dispute. The fact that they did not want to take that offer leads me to believe that it is because it would actually cost them $500 instead of just telling me that they are paying someone else $500 for my benefit. They sold me a damaged car and they were going to just walk away with my money without doing anything. ONLY after I got MAZDA involved did they reluctantly off the idiotic buy-back or $500 offer. So in the end they want me to pay for the damage that occurred prior to the sale while the car was in their possession. Sabrina ******* even told me that people should check the paint on their new car......SO let that be a warning to anyone out there looking at buying a car from CONTINENTAL, they expect you to look for paint damage and if you do not see it - BUYER BEWARE. OH just for the record, the service department told me that the car has paint repair on the service record PRIOR to sale.
