I saw Dr. Howanitz for a full body check up since I have had skin cancer. She gave me a clean bill of health. I later realized I had a spot on my inner leg that looked suspicious to me so I went back to her for an additional appointment to check this spot that she may have missed during my first visit. She said it was nothing. I subsequently felt uncomfortable with her diagnosis and visited a highly recommended dermatologist in NYC who immediately wanted to biopsy this spot and it came back as a squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Howanitz is special to me in two ways. First, she is a skilled physician who will carefully examine her patients and will answer all questions. Second, she will take time to discuss the important issues of the day and exchange ideas and thus gets to know the whole person as well as the patient.
She is very thorough, collects extensive history, is not rushed, is committed to finding an accurate diagnosis and to providing comprehensive medical help. Can be reassuring as needed. A compassionate, non-nonsense doctor with extensive knowledge and experience. Takes the "voodoo" out of dermatology. Have complete confidence in her abilities.
Wonderful, incredibly thorough, thoughtful. careful physician. I wish all specialists were like her. Excellent communication, and great sense of humor as well. What more can you ask.
Dr Howanitz is a first rate, skilled, compassionate physician. I have been her patient for a number of years and her thoroughness, diagnosis's, recommendations/referrals have never disappointed me. She doesn't rush though appointments and questions I may have re the skin cancers or skin problems she discovered. Her follow-ups are always timely and consistent. She is a wonderful Doctor and Woman.

Dr. Howanitz is one of the finest in her field. Superlative knowledge. Saved my wife's life by catching a melanoma early. Great manner as well. Highly recommend.
