I am a peer who lives with serious mental illness. I came to NAMI Fresno about a year ago with more than 10 years of mental health speaking and training experience with other more friendly and thriving affiliates. I came with open arms and open hearts to this affiliate willing to give it my all and support them in becoming a healthy and thriving affiliate like the ones I had previously been a part of. So glad to have found people going through the same thing I am. Family to family and support groups are a true lifesaver for me!
I miss my NAMI Fresno! When I needed help, I was given immediate resources by the director and volunteers! I took the family to family course and joined NAMI as a Teacher to give the course. I am now advocating through the Pomona Valley affiliate, but I am so proud of NAMI Fresno!
Your representatives claim they are the voice for people with mental illness. That is not true. They represent a SMALL group of people. I struggle with the effects of mental illness on a daily basis and THEY DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME. They are trying to destroy a company that works hard to bring awareness and give back. Posting photos calling people a "jackass" is unprofessional and I do not agree with having people like that claiming they are advocating for good.
