Mental health is a hard issue to talk about because it does not lend itself to warm fuzzies such work done for puppies or children. Often it fills the afflicted with self-loathing and anguish. For the families and loved ones, there is shame and confusion. This is why NAMI is such a critical organization. They treat issues of mental illness in a forthright and dignified manner. Ever since I have been involved with NAMI of Erie County it has been a godsend personally to help me understand and support my son who has PTSD. I have taught 9 classes and know over 250 people in our community who have benefited here. I love NAMI and all the staff.
