I liked the feeling of camaraderie between the chef and the customers. The food preparation was a showtime worth spectating. Lunch time special totally worth it.
The hibachi diners are good and fun.
As everyone knows Nakato is one of my family’s favorite places to eat! We have been eating here for over 11yrs now. I am sad to even be writing this but in the last 2 months I have ordered food to go, sushi, and hibachi. The first time the portions were so small, I took photos of them and almost reached out but I blew it off thinking it was an off night. Then here I am again tonight with the same issue. If it wasn't for my amazing friends making the night spectacular, the Nakatos dining experience was lackluster at best. The food is okay, but definitely nothing to tell anyone about. The facility is outdated and showing wear, and the exhaust fans above the Teppanyaki griddles are old and LOUD. When presented as a future dining option, I'll vote to go elsewhere unless Nakato Springfield truly desires to improve and starts showing it in their facility, food quality and portion size.
I travel all over the country & have been to dozens & dozens of sushi places. This place is hands down my favorite so far. Eel is my favorite and I have never seen eel sushi pieces this large. Literally 2 bite pieces. Great staff & chefs and you can always expect a little something extra when you sit @ the bar.
Sushi was excellent. The habichi grill food was also on point. 3.50 sake bombs. Service was excellent and the chef was very interactive. Go early for the early bird special.
We have been dining at Nakato for the past 19 years. Last night we celebrated a birthday there and it was the worst experience that we've had. The quality and quantity of the food was terrible, although our chef did a good job), we never received our sushi order and the service, with the exception of our chef and the young lady who assisted our waiter, was poor. We have eaten here many times but the food seems to get worse each time we go. We ate here last night and the food, including the noodles, had absolutely no flavor! The soup...I could have opened a can of chicken broth and it would have more flavor than the soup you served me last night. The table across from ours had people shaking their heads and vigorously applying salt and pepper to their food. We were so disappointed.
