Didn't think I'd enjoy myself, I DID I had a wonderful time here. Be sure you wear comfortable walking shoes b/c it's like a museum 'Town"...with lots of walking and scurrying around. You can get on the ship replicas and poke around...which you will learn a lot about how they all worked then. I enjoyed the barrel maker...he was really interesting. Price was a little steep, and the food inside is basic concession type fair. I would go again with someone who'd never been.

great fanily attraction Mystic Seaport is a replica of an old whaling village where the actors and staff members remain in character the whole time. There is tons to do in see - from ships, to the village, to the preservation ship yard. There are several shops and restuarants there too and be prepared to spend an afternoon.

Learn about our heritage Do you want to learn about the past and the heritage of Mystic, CT, then Mystic Seaport is a place for you. Located about 2 hours from Boston, this place is certainly worth a day visit. Although the admission fee is quite hefty, it is worth it. You get to see the ship making of the past and to take a stroll through many museums. Highly recommend! PROS: great history CONS: admission fee

Great place to visit Mystic Seaport is a replica of an old whaling village and it is very popular with school groups but it's also a great family attraction as well. All the actors and staff members remain in character. When you visit you will see the various characters building actual wooden ships and even see reinactments of maritime skills. There are also several gift shops.
