I set up my appointment online, called the rep at the designated time, and he was on another call and asked me to wait. I waited for 13 minutes. That was completely unprofessional. If a new appointment needed to be made, that's fine, but don't have me sitting on a call waiting on you. And we had never even formally spoken to prior.
If I could give them zero stars I would. Trying to withdrawal funds for a first time home purcahse has been a nightmare. They are holding my funds for no apparent reason. No one calls you back when they say they will, they won't even return calls to our HR staff who have been trying to help. The WORST company. Go with Vanguard
Heed these reviews and DO NOT do business with Mutual of America. Buy your annuity elsewhere. They have antiquated technology which results in every single transaction taking 7-10 business days. Whether updating an email, or requesting a withdrawal, everything moves very slowly, if at all. You need to call everyday and make sure things are being done, or weeks will pass with no action.
Insurance companies are deplorably bad when it comes to service. Mutual of America is pretty bad. It has a primitive website . It is full of errors, and it is impossible to correct these errors. Once you buy an annuity from these folks, that is the end of it. It is difficult to withdraw. You can be waiting for hours even days to communicate with them. Customer service is virtually nonexistent and it is extremely frustrating wasting so much time trying to get assistance. If they aren't going to answer the phone they should have clear directions and a user friendly web portal.
