I traveled to MUSC for the first time today for business purposes. I was lost and had six heavy bags with me. The Nurse Manager, Claudia, from Unit 3 North of the Institute of Psychiatry approached me to offer help and spent approximately two hours assisting me. She certainly has numerous responsibilities, so I am especially grateful that she took the time. I am impressed with her efforts to exceed the highest standards of care and service. I am greatful for the staff and consider myself lucky to live in proximity to MUSC. I honestly expected cafeteria grade food from high school school. but the jerk chicken, roast, bbq (pulled pork) meals were sincerely good, not just "as good as you would expect". I am thankful as well to some of the other patients. For a lot of people there it is some of the worst days of their lives. The atmosphere is very focused on healing, and they provide the tools. I’ve been a patient here (Daniel Island location Primary Health with Dr Hund) for some time, and I want to be very honest about my experience. Dr. Hund is a wonderful doctor in person —knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. I have always felt heard and respected during my actual appointments. I have been suffering with BPD and OCD for such a long time that I finally decided to do an inpatient patient stay on my own accord to get my medications situated in a safe setting but that's not how it turned out. Anyone who works with patients who have BPD and OCD they would no that the fear of abandonment and the fear of pretty much anything.
