We went to the ER on Sunday after my son suffered a concussion back in August! This was our SECOND time coming back due to the PCP being closed! The first time we returned after the initial diagnosis.. we were turned away by Dr. Messer! Totally understand he “wouldn’t “ not couldn’t clear my son to play again and to return to the provider. I want to take a moment to recognize the wonderful care my auntie, Doris English, received at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown. She was transferred there from another hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, and from the time she arrived, she was treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. Extremely disappointing experience. My partner arrived by ambulance with neurological symptoms that had us genuinely concerned about a stroke or TIA. Instead of listening to her medical history and properly addressing her symptoms, this physician dismissed everything and fixated on CBD. We are highly educated and experienced with CBD and have been involved with it for over 11 years. My mom was transferred here to have her pacemaker replaced after it died even though the doctor knew it was on backup battery and pushed it out 14 days. Then while at the hospital the staff were so unhelpful and unreliable. She was a fall risk and no one ever came to help her. Thankfully my sister has been able to stay with her and help get around even though she doesn't have medical training. Then of all things they found roaches in the room during the night. How disgusting! I'm so disappointed in this facility!
