We stayed at the Mudville Flats for 8 nights over New Years Eve 2011. We arrived early on our check-in date and so we took the time we had to check the nearest surroundings. Only a few blocks away you´ll find the famous Gaslamp Quarter, a historic district where you can shop and in our case have breakfast. The flats itself offer a unique experience. They are really cozy and you see the efforts Linda and Mike put into their apartments in every detail. The rooms are clean, the bed is great and the kitchen with all its applianc... read more
We had three nights in Flat D at Mudville, and loved our stay! The flat was furnished really well, with some lovely antiques. The flat was large, and had everything we wanted, it was lovely at the end of the day to come back and sit out on the peaceful balcony. Linda was really helpful, and recommended several places to eat, which were all really good. Situated not too far from the Gaslamp area, we found it an easy walk to all the sights and to the boardwalk to get the ferry over to Coronado. We mentioned that we were going ... read more
. . . what more can you ask for. My husband and I stayed in "Flat B" for two nights in February. The previous posts are all accurate regarding the amenities, so I won't repeat. Linda met us at the door and provided a very thorough tour of our suite, the house and grounds. If I had to describe our suite in one word, it would be "comfortable". We parked our car in our assigned spot (for free) and didn't see it again until we were ready to leave. Literally everything is within walking distance. This part of San Diego is a high ... read more
We stayed at Mudville Flats for 3 nights in March 2012. We chose it due to the location, the (free) secure parking and because we'd rather stay in small independent places if possible. We were really pleased with our choice and would definitely stay here again. It's in the East Village and within walking distance of the Gaslamp district, the downtown shopping areas, the baseball stadium and the sea. We used the car to visit Coronado and the zoo but you could easily get around without a car staying here. The owner Mike was th... read more
We stayed at the Mudville Flats for 6 nights . We found the location ideal. It is close to the Gaslamp Quarter,Horton Plaza, many sights and many great restaurants. Linda and Mike were very helpful and so gracious when I managed to blow a ciricuit in the late evening and when all of San Diego was under a power outage for a night. They really care about their guests. The Kitchen has all you need, the beds are comfy, the rooms tastefully done with a great bathtub, Direct TV and a nice deck with access to the garden and BBQ if ... read more
My wife, "Mickey" Mantle, recently offered a trip to San Diego to celebrate my eleventh consecutive 60th birthday. Our choice of Mudville Flats was based mostly on the rave reviews displayed on this page by earlier guests . Others have extolled the delightful marriage here of 19th century design and ambience with 21st century comfort and convenience at this unique inn, along with the charming bonus, even to Canadians, of the baseball memorabilia. They were spot on. Even more pleasing for us, though, was the hospitality and g... read more
My wife and I stayed here for the weekend if September 10th. We were traveling to shoot a wedding, but also planned on taking some time to hit up the museums at Balboa Park and to relax. I'll admit that this place wasn't my first choice, but I am really glad we stayed here!!! Beautiful rooms and a gorgeous little patio yard outback. I ADORE bungalow style design and this place was perfect! One of the owners, Mike, was a super nice guy and really made us feel comfortable. Definitely recommend and will stay here again :-)
We stayed at the Mudville Flats Aug 19 - 21. My husband & I just live in North County, but didn't have a lot of time for a "get-away", so opted for a "stay-cation" for our anniversary. What a treat! Linda was so helpful & knowledgeable about things to do in the area, including things that would interest someone who is not a tourist! She also presented us with an amazing bottle of wine as a GIFT for our anniversary! The area has some great restaurants - one of our favorites was the Cowboy Star. We tried several of the places ... read more
We found this awesome place on Trip Advisor and am so thankful we did. The Flat was perfect--had ALL the comforts of home, the cozy kitchen, the spacious bathroom, the WONDERFULLY comfortable bed and the soothing leather sofa with all the cute lamps!!! Linda was the GREAT!!! She was very informative about each and everything about the room and informed us of all types of places to see/eat and ... read more
