Awesome food with great surrounding. A must visit restaurant.
Visit Mrs Mac's for an unexpected treat. A wide selection of great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Do not expect fancy, this place is down home with an old Florida feel - license plates (international) for wall hangings, lamps and napkin holders. Bring an interesting plate with you in case you feel like leaving it. They opened second restaurant about a mile to the south, also tried this on my trip down the keys, same food, drinks, specials, but a more modern feel. Lunch and dinner only served at the new place. Fun place - like eating at your quirky favorite aunties instead of a big box food factory. good food. fair prices. Nice to eat where the locals do. All six members of our party left full and happy.
Based on the previous reviews, my wife, myself and my granddaughter tried it last night (5/22/12). The food was not anything like I expected. The salads were not cold and the food was not very good. My wife had the crab cakes and they were very "fishy" tasting. My granddaughter had the lobster bites, which had very little taste at all. I had the shrimp basket and it was at least edible. Later in the night my granddaughter woke up very sick and throwing up. Consequently I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food is very good, loved the floor design. Stay away from the chips, too much oil. Great food otherwise but kitchen was very slow however the waitstaff was very good. Nice food at very reasonable pricing.
I always stop at Mrs Macks with the wife and kids when I am down in the keys. In the mood for seafood or a good steak you can't go wrong at Mrs Macks! And the service is the best they are so friendly and attentive.
