Best video rental spot in Oregon. They seemingly have everything.
Video store, film library, museum, cultural landmark. Movie Madness is a Portland institution and one of my very favorite places to visit in the city. A beautifully curated and playfully organized collection of film and television from every imaginable time period and genre. A museum of legendary film props and costumes (the bloody skeleton from Wishmaster is my current favorite) that continue to amaze after many, many visits. This is a truly remarkable place, not to be missed!
Movie Madness is where I discovered Something Weird Video during the 1990s. I've rented so many disgusting and worthless movies there; there's no other place like it!
Maybe my favorite place in all of Portland. Going to an actual store to get a movie brings me joy. They keep a nice selection of VHS-only rarities, are consistent when it comes to keeping their DVDs in playable shape (note: they have a resurfacing machine for hire for those of you with scratched-up discs) and are committed to buying a lot of catalog titles on blu-ray. Staff is also very nice!
