This world-famous, rock-cut sculpture by Gutzon Borglum is one of the United States' best known landmarks. The 60-foot-tall (18-meter-tall) faces of four of America's greatest presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln - look down from their lofty perch above the luxuriant forests of the Black Hills. Remarkable in their likeness to the presidents, Mount Rushmore is as much a monumental artistic marvel as it is a cultural gem. These four presidents were chosen by the artist himsel... read more

The Memorial, Museum and film were excellent. I was just curious why Jehovah Witnesses were handing out literature at a national monument when we were there yesterday. Are all religious organizations allowed to do the same?

The sculptors are awesome. The sculpting walk was closed, that was disappointing. Very disappointed with the blatant, one sided view from Abe Lincoln actor. Tell history in the entirety, not in a slanted version. The north did have and sold slaves. The largest seller of slaves was from New England. And he kept calling southerners" rebels. Was that not what the original settlers were also? Was not our countries fore fathers "rebels"?!

I remember my first visit to Mt Rushmore back in 1973 when I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB... brought my wife there in '77 when I was sent back to Ellsworth from Germany. She loved it...so much history involved in the making of the monument. When our children were older, they enjoyed it as well...last visit was in '05...

Absolutely breathtaking. The park was clean, we got there early and had no lines. My husband is active duty so we didn’t pay a fee. The bookstore was a wonderful treat, very educational and not just junk. I bought my kids books and was glad to know that money goes right back into the park.

We visited in June 2018. This was mine and my daughters first trip. With a military ID we were able to get into the park for free. My daughter is blind, the accommodations for visually impaired where really great ;on the first two levels. It would be great to have an elevator going down to the trails, but over all it was very enjoyable. In the gift shop we were able to purchase her a bust of the mountain, that was very inexpensive. She was able to “see” what we saw.
