This world-famous, rock-cut sculpture by Gutzon Borglum is one of the United States' best known landmarks. The 60-foot-tall (18-meter-tall) faces of four of America's greatest presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln - look down from their lofty perch above the luxuriant forests of the Black Hills. Remarkable in their likeness to the presidents, Mount Rushmore is as much a monumental artistic marvel as it is a cultural gem. These four presidents were chosen by the artist himsel... read more

My friend JD & my first trip there this past Sunday August 26. Heard an awesome lecture on the history. Saw the lited up view at nite too but had missed the ceremony.
My friends and I did an 18-day bus tour of most of the national monuments in that part of the USA and further south! I would have to say that Mt Rushmore was outstanding to see and Amy dream come true. The other monuments were wonderful, too, but not as impressive as Mt. Rushmore! The other impressive sights to see with further south and that included Mesa Verde and the homes of the cliff dwellers! For beauty, it's Bryce and Zion Canyons, plus old Faithful and the Grand Canyon!
the gift for all to see teaches our children job well done beauty takes time fun in learning Family time well used and our country has many more National treasures to find and explore Part of love for Our Country is declaring it belongs to all the present ,past and those are yet to come!!! love my HOME SWEET HOME Marlene Bartlett
Wonderful. We had lots of rain.
This was our first time bringing our 9 year-old daughter which she has been wanting to go to for awhile. While staring at the monument she kept saying “I can’t believe I’m really here”. We loved the museum where we learned so much and we loved the gift shop. We stayed for the Lightning ceremony and found it awesome. So patriotic and the Ranger was fantastic. Great storyteller and very funny.
I love it, however if you have dogs, do not bring them! They are not allowed anywhere on the premises except the parking garage, a small patio area outside the parking garage, or in your car. They are not even allowed on the nature trails. There is one trail that leads into the forrest away from the monuments.
Very beautiful.
My family and I just made a 3000 mile trip from Alabama to see Mt Rushmore. It was awesome and something every American should see but the monument itself can be seen and appreciated in a couple of hours max. It is the trip through some of the most amazing scenery we’ve ever seen that makes the trip so special. My Rushmore gave us the journey. Honestly without the desire to see it we would have never seen and experienced everything else on our trip (Badlands, Custer, Needles, Deadwood, Devils Tower). So for that reason alone... read more
