The guy working the front door berated his workers and then berated my wife and I as we exited the restaurant because I did not want to take my red beans and rice home with me because there was too much rice. The server was just being helpful and offered to get me a tea and some extra beans to go. I accepted the offer but I guess it pissed off the door guy. The food was good at least but we marked it down as a place to never visit again.
We've enjoyed a lot of great food while visiting New Orleans but Mother's Restaurant was the absolute best.
It was the perfect place for a traditional, southern, New Year’s Day feast of ham, black-eyed peas, and greens. One of the best meals in NOLA!
Went to Mother’s our first night in NOLA and it was delicious!!!!!
I love mothers because the waiters are nice the food is really good and people are always smiling and talking. They were voted for best ham in New Orleans and it was said to be so good even the original man on Man vs Food Adam Richman said it earned it
I loved the food and the staff were awesome.

We were 50/50 here. The fried chicken was delicious, but the "famous" ham was hard and dry.
The famous baked ham was disgusting, cold French fries, canned green beans and a scoop of potato salad that was mush� We went because of the hype but I’m warning you not to go! Some people complained about the staff but they were friendly and attentive! The food was the problem!
