Down and dirty rocker dive bar. Food isn't bad. do talk to the bartender. You'll feel cool, promise. Bad for kids and uncool moms. Yay for the rest of us.
What makes SE Portland great – The Morrison Hotel takes it's name from the Doors album - and that it's on Morrison street. The atmosphere is great, exactly what one desires from a SE Portland bar; it's casual and stylish, has a great Jukebox and the bar staff are second to none. The Beer selection is wide, and well chosen, I challenge any afficionado of hops and barley to find a beer they do not love. Owner Chris Joseph, who was a founder of the PDX beer festival, has a passion for beer and this eminates through the selectio... read more
red sox games at 5pm? huh? – why would a west coast bar which claims to be a red sox bar (whose games start at 7 pm eastern) leave its doors locked until 5 pm pacific? that, my friends, is three whole innings! yes it does have a big screen, but you have to crane your neck to see it and you've already missed 1/3 of the game. i'll go somewhere else for baseball. not to mention, by opening at 5, you've already missed a portion of the after work crowd ~ some folks get out as early as 3:30. as for the beer, its a pretty good sele... read more
Business response:
I will totally look into putting a 20k walk in cooler and glycol system so we can offer more tap beers! In the meantime I'll continue to offer over 120 beers and will keep recycling the empties...that's ok right? Love, Chris "Red Sox Fanatic" Joseph
Best Bar Food I have Found – I used to think the Blue Monk had the best bar food in Portland, until I discovered this place. The menu is really simple and not complicated but the food is simply incredible. Last night I had garlic prawns and a 3 bowl combo, and almost fell off my chair. I would expect that type of food from a gourmet restaurant in the NW , but here in the SE, it is simply not heard of. The three bowl is a daily special of what ever the chef thinks is fresh and worthy of going inside. What impressed me most wa... read more
great food, great service, and nice place to watch the sox. – A great beer collection, tasty food, love the lamb served, and the bartender Mollie is outstanding. Good to see Ryan back too! Chris you rock!!! and GO SOX.
Best Fuzzy Navels ever! – This place makes the best fuzzy navel this side of Sweet Home!! I'm not sure if it's the fresh squeezed orange juice from a can or the high end peach schnapps they use but my oh my!! Also a great selection of seasonal pies and cakes. I recommend the rhubarb mango! Go Yankees!
My new favorite place to watch Red Sox games - plus they have DogFish Head Brew! – I wasn't sure what I was going to think about this place when I had heard about it. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and found out they have the MLB package. I sat down at the bar with several other Red Sox fans who had discovered Morrison Hotel as a place to watch before me. I sat where I could see the game on the flat screen t.v. above the beer cooler. I looked in the beer cooler and lo and behold they have my favorite beer by Dog... read more
