We recently moved our son out to VA for his new job. In doing so we visited several (roughly 10) different apartment communities in the Hampton area. There were a few communities that would have worked as far as aesthetics, layout, amenities and grounds. However, what made Monticello stand out was their front office and staff. I have been for 6 weeks and this is the worst facility I have ever lived in. It's filthy with raw trash in the hallways. The units are in disrepair. I spent the first 4 days with out air conditioning because they felt it was not an emergency to have temperatures over 90 degrees inside the apartment. Parking is a mess and is well known by the site leadership team. There is no management presence in the facility. Trash blowing in the parking lot and open drug use are common. I have been for almost 6 weeks and this is the worst facility I have ever lived in. It's filthy with raw trash in the hallways. It's not uncommon to find used needles from drug use on and around the property. The units are in disrepair. I spent the first 4 days with out air conditioning because they felt it was not an emergency to have temperatures over 90 degrees inside the apartment. Been here for 3 days with no air-conditioning. After multiple calls for assistance I was told its not an emergency and they will get to it. They refuse to give a date so it could be days or weeks. I guess to costs more to have a unit with air conditioning. If you come here, just know that 83 degrees in the apartment is normal!
