First visit was fine, surgery was fine but follow up care was a nightmare. Improper handling of pain and infection, office not following through with communication, being told to go to ER instead of returning calls and just false information. If you are at all sensitive or have history of medical trauma, stay away.
Dr. Kalan has performed surgery on my wife and I for various conditions. He listens to all your questions and concerns. He then explains the situation simply in an understandable way and his recommended solution. He makes sure you are comfortable before moving in. He is a caring surgeon, which is a rare combination.
Dr Kalan saved my life when I needed an emergency appendectomy. He is a skilled surgeon who explains the process and listens to you thru out. I highly recommend him and only refer him to friends. If you have any type of gastro needs he is the one to call. Bless him for using his talents to save people like he did me.
Dr. Kalan operated on me for a very serious intestinal blockage. He discussed the surgery in detail before going to the operating room which comforted my wife's and my anxieties. Members of the staff told us that we were so fortunate in having Dr. Kalan performing the surgery as he was the best. We learned by having him as my doctor that indeed he was superb. Recovery went extremely well and we could not be more pleased with Dr. Kalan, an excellent surgeon and very pleasant gentleman.
Dr. Kalan is very skilled. He also spends as much time as is needed with the patient; being sure to answer any and all questions. He doesn't make any question seem silly. He is kind and compassionate.
