We added a detached two bedroom ADU behind our house for family. The project included a new foundation, utilities, HVAC, full kitchen, bathroom and separate laundry. We chose LVP for most of the floors and porcelain tile in the bathroom because we wanted everything to be easy to maintain. It feels much more like a small house than a backyard unit.
We had our kitchen and two bathrooms remodeled and are really happy with the work. The kitchen needed a new layout more than anything, and the extra cabinet space has been great. Everything came together nicely and the quality of the work shows.
My wife wanted marble in the bathroom and I was convinced we’d regret it. We compromised by using marble on the vanity and porcelain everywhere that gets constantly wet. I think that ended up being the right call. We got the natural variation she wanted without turning every shower into a maintenance project.
Our ADU is above the garage rather than in the backyard, and getting the layout right took some work because of the roofline. They used the lower sections for closets and storage instead of wasting that space. We ended up fitting two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living area up there without it feeling chopped up. The vaulted section over the living room is especially nice. You’d never guess you’re standing above a garage.
They were super friendly and helpful and they completed the job within the timeline we gave them, highly recommend.
