A very good experience !
This was a second opinion. Dr Shiffman listened to me and answered my questions clearly. He gave me a clear dx and "pulled all the 3 year medical history together" in a clear fashion. Smart man and also a good bedside manner. He and his NPs are my liver team now.
I thought enough of him and his staff that I followed them from his hospital practice to his private practice. Treated for HCV which was easy starting in 2016 and was followed for an additional 3 years as my liver healed. I only saw him a few times and mostly saw his NP whom I had complete confidence in. I highly recommend Dr. Shiffman and his staff.
Dr. Shiffman seems like a very bright, talented care provider. He explains situations with clarity, answers questions, and seems to be respected by his colleagues. That being said, I've encountered a number of what seem like serious follow through issues with the office. A biopsy is scary for anyone, so an additional, unexplained 4 week delay in receiving results becomes cruel at some point. Promised follow ups and task items for the office have never occurred. Saved my Life!! Period!!
My experience was bad. I had an MRCP which indicated Sclerosing Cholangitis or Klatskins tumor. I immediately sought the best help I could find. Two years went by under Dr Shiffmans care. Although I was concerned about cancer, Dr Shiffman told me that PSC often looks like cancer. He explained that he had seen that situation in other patients.
