Editorial fromMint has been a trendsetter in more ways than one. First, its location in a close-in yet highly industrialized neighborhood seemed like a bold choice a decade ago. Now, it's on the edge of the hippest shopping district in town. Secondly,…

Lousy service makes for terrible experience – We went to Mint for a friend's birthday. As more people arrived and ordered different drinks, the birthday girl and another friend discovered that they had been served the wrong drinks The server agreed to bring them each a new drink and told us to go ahead and keep the ones that were wrongly served. When the bill came, we were charged for both of the drinks that were brought to replace the wrong ones. The manager refused to pay for both but "agreed" to pay for one. Not only was ... read more
Great for before or after a Rose Garden event – The proximity of Mint to the Rose Garden makes it a perfect place to stop in for a drink before or after a concert, lecture, or Blazers game. While the monster truck crowd may find it too foofy, people of varied interests (like myself) will find it an ideal start or end to the evening. The signature drinks and the tasty appetizers (the sweet potato fries are more than addictive) are consistently good. Dinner is quite good as well; I simply prefer this place for drinks and a sta... read more
Special for locals and visitors – Not many restaurants/bars in Portland are as hospitable at mint! Whether we had questions on ordering our wonderful meal (the crab cakes are the best in Portland!) or an amazing cocktail (try the Bella) the staff was knowledgeable and courteous; and when they didn't have an answer for us, the owner, Lucy, was on hand to personally answer our questions. Where else can you go for that kind of service? This was one the most enjoyable evenings out I've had in town in a long time!
Awesome Experience – I have dined at mint many times in the past. When I returned last week I was very impressed to see how strong this place is still going! An amazing patio on the 820 side, a hip clientele, and very attentive service. The food was delicious, with some unexpected twists to the latin side. I can highly recommend going there if you're looking to be away from the beaten path, or just looking to have a romantic dinner in a very swanky atmosphere.
WASTE OF MONEY – I went, and I ate, the worst food. I wrote a letter, what did I get back? Someone telling me I must be crazy instead of apologizing about the poor menu. I cannot help but think as I am eating a cold shrimp salad that tastes like previously frozen shrimp, that it is just that. Especially when an employee comes in with two large grocery bags from Trader Joes. Do not waste your time or money here, and if you do, only buy the drinks, they are the only good thing on the menu.
Judge by F&B alone. Haters take a hike. – I simply review food, drink, and service. And all three are excellent at Mint. The menu is innovative, yet well-executed. A bonus is the modern, yet comfy, room. The critic who wrote about the muscled waiters and "power yuppie san francisco lite" is only showing his or her own insecurity. You don't know who any of these people are, and a restaurant has no control over who comes in, so why judge a place by the people you see and your assumptions about them? That's a waste of time. A treasure !! – Such a classic classy place: fantastic decor, remarkable menu and quality. Drink selection is truly a show stopper and/or AA membership passage: I'm going until I've tried all once. Meals are hearty and prepared with talent; not bar food like. Great location for business.
good deal – Cool place, good food at a moderate price, and the best cocktails I've ever had. The Velvet knocked my NW berry lovin' socks off. This place rocks, and now it's on the new light rail line so you can hop aboard a yellow line train and dine at the coolest place in town. It has a patio so I'll be there a lot this summer. I loved that grilled heart of romaine dish - and normally I hate veggies.
Amazing Drinks! – Oddest and yummiest drinks I've ever had, honest. Intimate date atmosphere or a nice place to get a drink w/close friends.
