This one thousand acre attraction located just west of Minneapolis is a gardener's paradise. It is also the perfect spot for anyone who simply wishes to visit a beautiful and peaceful place. The University of Minnesota, which owns the arboretum, conducts research here and offers a wide variety of educational programs. Several miles of walking paths weave through the gardens, with a lane along side for those who wish to drive.

I love this place, it's where I go to center myself and find peace.
The Arboretum is a special place lost in time with beautiful and tranquil landscapes. It's never the same as it changes with the seasons. It's fun to search for the new flower blooming or the first bird to return from their winter break. It is also a photographer's dream.
I went Saturday night to the Bruce Munro winter light exhibit. It was wonderful to see although I never could find the Reflections exhibit which makes me quite disappointed. I wanted to get outside before it got totally dark so by the time I was indoors trying to locate it, it was well after 9pm. One suggestion a few of us had was to put the kids' area on the map. Friday, January 27th was extremely busy with parking but we were pleasantly surprised that we could still get lost in nature with not a soul around. it was good to see that you'll find more parking as you continue driving throughout. Incredible the mass area with all of the trails available that one should make more than one visit to capture it all!
