The University of Minnesota, which owns the arboretum, conducts research here and offers a wide variety of educational programs. Several miles of walking paths weave through the gardens, with a lane along side for those who wish to drive.

Great place for picture taking!
I absolutely love visiting the Arboretum and can’t say enough about the staff. It is a gorgeous area, and they do a great job helping you navigate the grounds. I get friendly service at the gift shop and only recently became a member. The discount is a nice perk. I highly encourage people to take advantage of this local gem.

I live about 6 hours away and it is a treat when I can be there and soak up the beauty that is in the flowers and the different gardens. Plus, I have really enjoyed the work of the artists with their unique creations scattered around the grounds

The arboretum is top-notch, with more manicured areas and more wild areas for people with different preferences. The signs and placards are helpful and clear. This is definitely worth a trip!
Beautiful grounds but still using plastic straws? Get with the times! What’s this I hear about using pesticides? The arboretum should be a leader in environmentally responsible practices but have failed to rise to the occasion.
