Editorial fromYou might not notice tiny Minako as you walk by, and you certainly wouldn't expect to find an organic, home-style Japanese restaurant so sweet and well-intentioned on this dingy corner of the Mission. The mother (chef) and daughter…

Vegan sushi? Mmmm..... Amazing. A Japanese restuarant where I can eat almost anything and not have to worry about meat or byproduct. My favorites: Miso - I never get to have the miso at any other place I go. Agedashi Tofu - Other places bring out a bowl with a few cubes of tofu. Minako's version is a block of tofu (that's right, a block...), fried as expected and wading in a pool of lovely sauce. It's heavenly. Great Japanese The dishes were surprisingly prepared and one of my new favorite places. The soba noodles were just perfect and the sashimi was fresh. The food tasted like if you were in Japan!
One of the best restaurants ever! Minako is a wonderful, organic Japanese restaurant in the Mission district with many vegetarian options. The food is delicious & the owners are friendly! And their sukiyaki is to die for. PROS: delicious, healthful, organic CONS: highly addictive! ;)
Downside is it's hard at times to get in, but that's because the food is so delicious, and because it's a small family-run business. With that being said, this is the best sushi ever!!! Great portions, excellent prices, cozy atmosphere, and super delicious food. I fell in love with this place the first time I had it. They remember you, what you like eat/order and Minako is really down to earth.
