The Mill Street Grille was formerly the staple of the elegant Walden Hotel, built in 1927. In the 1950s, the lower half was rented out to business tenants such as the Secretary of State and the basement housed the District Court holding cells that are still intact today.In 1958, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. held meetings upstairs with other civil rights activists.
