Best NEW sushi in town – My husband and I have had two great experiences here and I would highly recommend. We are both big sushi fans and have found the sushi experience in Austin to be lacking (but definitely getting better!) The decor at Mikado is beautiful and there is no wait. The chairs are a little uncomfortable as they obviously chose asthetics over comfort. The sushi chefs are very friendly. I also really like the crowds - more Austin and less pretentious! Try the Chilean Sea Bass for an appetizer - it is wonderful!
Excellent Food, Bad Manager – Mikado has, without a doubt, the best sushi here in Austin. The sushi chefs are all very delicate and good at their skills. The waitresses are all lovely and provide the best of service. I have never experienced a better combination of sushi and waitress service. The owner is very kind and friendly. nice people, great food – Mikado is simply fantastic. Their menu has some very creative and outstanding appetizers and starters (the mushroom package is a must-try), their sushi is quite good, and the people are lovely. Best Sushi in Austin – After living in Austin for almost a year, I have tried many of the plentiful sushi restaurants here. Mikado is the best I've had so far. Although I find Umi and Sushi Sake both great, I felt Mikado surpassed them. My boyfriend and I went in one day for lunch and sat at the sushi bar. Tip-Top – Had lunch at Mikado and it doesn't disappoint. The place is still new(very clean) and the presentation is as good as the food. The portions were big and the rolls were excellent......just can't beat that spicy sauce. It is not romantic at all with the booths, big open area and wall of window but who needs romance. Give it a try if your in the area and you'll definitely be back, we will.
Best sushi restaurant in Austin – We have been to Mikado several times and consistently have had good food and attentive service. The sushi was always of top quality and it is the only restaurant in town that can make a good agedashi tofu. The interior is elegant and subtle. The whole staff says "thank you" when you exit. I highly recommend the place to everyone I know. It is not a flash-in-the pan trendy, Japanese place. I would take my mother here.
Excellent Food and Environment – The food here is excellent. Sushi is very fresh, with one of the freshest fishes around town. Definitely recommend the toro. Good Food; Nice people! – I've been to Mikado several times and I try to introduce as many friends to the delicious food there. The ambience is very good, the waitstaff, unlike some other places, very polite and not stuck-up and the Sushi is Excellent! They also have delightful appetizers on their menu. The prices are very reasonable for the whole package that you get. Great place for a sushi date. A must.
