It's ok. I wish it were better and/or had better parking as it's so close as it would quickly be my go to, but, there are other options that are as good and much more convenient. That's not to say you should avoid it, as I know plenty of people that think the parking inconvenience is worth it.
Not at good as the other location – We love the restaurant on Palmetto, but were on the other side of Pasadena, and thought we'd give this smaller version a try. Service wasn't that prompt or attentive, and we were 1 of only 3 tables. The food was good, not outstanding like the other location. The chips and salsa were delicious. We recommend this place based on the food, not the service, so don't go in and expect great service.
Good Food ~ Annoying Whistling – We love the food!!! We love the prices. However, it is quite distracting to have a meal in such tight quarters, try and converse with your table mate(s) and be distracted by ear-piercing whistling from somewhere in the kitchen. It has happened twice in the past year. We will not go back...unless we order takeout.
Rest. Mgr. about town – Better known as "Mijaritos," this is the "other" Mijares. This has a small, sparse, very casual cafe style, with a limited menu (less seafood dishes and wine margaritas only). Everyone their is great, and greets you by name. The dishes are larger and less expensive than the "Original," thats why tons of regulars come in. Get past the ugly mini-mall and find some parking if you can (same problem as the other restaurant!) and you will be rewarded. Ask for Drew if you want great service on Sunday's, I ha... read more
Quite good, if ugly. – In an ugly strip-mall with very poor parking, but the food and service is quite good! Get past the ugly surroundings and have some good Mexican food.
Excellent Margarita's – Been coming here for a few years now. Their chimichangas (fried burritos) and strawberry margarita's always hit the spot. Definitely worth trying
Good food and drinks – A friend of mine ordered the shrimp fajitas, and they looked really great -- good-sized shrimp, fresh onions, tomatoes and peppers. And I have many coworkers who swear by Mijares' margaritas. Sit on the back patio if you can. Service was friendly, though we did have an order mix-up; it was taken care of very promptly.
Great for After work – This is a good place to meet up after work for some chips and margaritas. The food is pretty good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here to eat.
A tad overrated – I like Mijares just fine, but I've never found the food to be so terrific that it's worth the interminable wait (or the nonexistent parking) on a weekend night. Good place for a group when you're hankering for big sloppy ritas, but there are other better places for a great meal.
