great local gym – I have been going to Miekos Edmonds for 3 yrs now and did hire a trainer when I first started. The gym is perfect for me, seeing it is so close to home, it offers everything I need for a great workout from the free weights, cardio equip. and especially the classes. They offer classes for all levels of fitness, I love Julie's classes she is very knowledgeable and knows everyone by name her anecdotes keep the classes fun and enjoyable. Don't Listen to the other reviews this is a great gym – This is probably the best gym in terms of customer service, and in the last 5 years I have been a member of 24hour Fitness, LA Fitness, and Golds. Out of all the gyms in the area, their cancellation policy is easiest. like one of the other reviewers, I forgot to cancel my membership and they kept pulling money from account, but unlike the whiner below, I recognize that I owed the money and it was my fault. Worst Customer Service - Borderline Fraud billing – I've stopped going there for a year and got around to cancelling the membership in March. They continued to pull money from my account and because I'm very busy, working 60 plus hours a week, I never got around to doing anything about. Fast forward to me losing my debit card and having to get it replaced. Now they are threatening to send me to collections--even though I haven't used their gymn for a year. Miekos Fitness not very clean – If you are just looking to go get a cardio workout beware that you will probably be harassed by the so called trainers in black shirts. I've been approached 2 different times when I was just minding my own business. Many of the machines are so used that the padding is cracked--a great bacterial breeding ground. Going downhill – Through 6 years of membership I've watched this Mieko's location falling by the wayside. Maintenance of the equipment has become a real issue. While Mieko's now has a maintenance technician who, besides being split between all their locations, seems clueless when it comes to the more complex equipment so the Precor treadmills never get fixed. (Of 12 Precor treadmills installed 3 years ago, three machines had ramps that did not work. It was reported then and 18 months later reported again. The same machine's ... read more
