I had the best experience birthing here. My daughter was born Mar 7, 2022 on the tail end of Covid Pandemic and they did everything they could to make sure my birthing experience didn’t feel.. clinical. The team moved so fast getting things prepared, which they had to because my labor progress pretty quickly. Even though I was admitted at 7 cen. and progressed to 8 fairly quickly they still heard my request for my music and low lighting and hushed movement. They create my calm space of praise and worship music so quickly. It... read more

So far, I have gone through at least 6 OBs with Virginian Franciscan Medical. They constantly repeat and have put it on my MyChart that I have "inadequate" prenatal care because I didn't get checked until approaching my 3rd month- but in my defense, I scheduled prenatal care at least a month and a half in advance of when they decided to schedule me 🙄 ....It's always been this way with medical services, so no surprise there, the "Oh we need you quickly for checkups, just kidding wait for two months, oh now you're red flagged... read more

Something I wasn’t aware of, was that you have to be dilated to a certain spot to be admitted to the Birth Center in particular. This isn’t something that was mentioned at all prenatally to me. It came as a surprise when I came in with active labor and was told I wasn’t far enough along to be admitted but I was welcome to go to the hospital. I received more cervical checks to be admitted than I hoped to receive for the entirety of labor. My water was broken and I ended up becoming high risk for infection so they transferred ... read more

Mt daughter was born here on 3/19/25. I had an amazing experience at the Midwifery Birth Center! The room was so comfortable and beautiful. They kept the lights comfortably dim and i was able to play my own music. The tub was enormous and my nurse and doula kept it filled and at the perfect temperature, so I could get in and out of it whenever I wanted. My team was so incredibly supportive, encouraging, patient, and kind. After having a rather traumatic experience for my son's birth five years ago at Tacoma General, this was... read more

I recently had a natural water birth at the St. Joes Midwifery Birthing Center. I am so glad to share what a beautiful experience I had here with their staff, environment and stay. Very impressed with their respect to my birthing plan and doing everything to make my initial dreams come true with birth. I went past my due date and they still did everything possible to set baby and I up for a safe birth. My labor was surprisingly fast but I partially contribute that to how safe I felt under their care. They let my husband/birt... read more
