I had my 3 year old Grandaughter in for her yearly checkup. During this visit, she was seated on my lap, Dr. Powell pulled her legs toward him putting her in a semi reclining position and pulled her pants and panties down quickly to do a female check. There was no prior discussion on what he was about to do and there was no female nurse present for this exam! This is at the very least VERY unprofessional! I immediately found another doctor!
My wife and I took our grandson to Powell a few months back. My son and daughter in law have been using him as their pediatrician going on a year now. As the previous reviews stated, the wait time to see the doctor is not bad and the office staff is wonderful. Powell was very disappointing. Between his lack of professionalism and skittish remarks, I have little to no faith in his abilities. After alot of thought, both my wife and I have recommended our grandson be taken to another pediatrician. Greg Huntsville, AL
The wait time isnt bad compared to most dr offices. The office staff is super friendly and very helpful. The doctor isnt at times very helpful. I often ask questions regarding the health of my child and if its not an interest of his- he doesnt respond or blows off the question. He lectures often about random off the wall subjects hes read or watched on tv, nothing pertaining to my daughter. I was one of Dr. Powells first patients. I was about 3 when I started seeing him. I had had a very bad experience with a different doctor who had me on the same medication over and over until it finally stopped working. Dr. Powell saw me immediately, determined what was wrong and gave me new medicine that cleared up the infection immediately. Wonderful people. If youre looking for nice people to treat your children, look no further than Dr. Powell. His staff are joyful, helpful people, and hes got a great sense of humor. Dr. Powell is in this business for the right reason - hes here to help you, not to make money.
