Dr. Kaufer is incompetent and indecisive in clinical decision-making, which is unacceptable for a healthcare provider, especially in the ED. His negligence in withholding IV fluids, in addition to prescribing antibiotics unnecessarily for misdiagnosed pneumonia, delayed transfer for more thorough care for my severely dehydrated toddler that we later learned was in ketoacidosis. Not surprising he already had a terrible google review which matches his defensive, arrogant bedside manner prior to our experience.
We went into the ER with my 1 year old who had just fallen and cut his chin open. His laceration was very deep and about an inch long. Dr. Kaufer examined him without ever taking the steri strip off that I had put on him before leaving the house. He decided not to do sutures and that glue would work. When he finally took the steri strip off, it started to bleed pretty heavily again. He still thought glue would be best.
