Stark walls landscaped with a plethora of photos distinguish this popular place in Lakeview. The bustling Mia Francesca resides in an old candy store and is one of the city's most authentic Italian restaurants. The menu changes daily, but you might find roasted salmon with sea scallops or selections of veal, chicken and sea bass. Pasta dishes dominate the entrees. The spinach ravioli is a crowd pleaser. Simple desserts complete the meal. Reservations are not accepted, and you can usually count on a wait, but the antique bar ... read more

User review by sleopold – this restaurant was good. the food i had was delicious, i had the salmon and shrimp along with a special appetizer that was a pepper brushetta. i did not have to wait for seating but i ate outside on the patio that was very nice, the inside of the restaurant was absolutely crazy and i couldnt even imagine eating in there. the bathrooms are in a very bad spot right in the middle of the traffic between in/outdoor seating and the bus boy station. on top of it, there is only one stall for each. overall,... read more
This always-packed Italian spot serves up satisfying fare to a merry, mixed crowd. – In Short The atmosphere at this Wrigleyville fave is frenetic and loud with chatter, laughter, clinking glasses and cheers. The contemporary Italian menu offers tasty plates like sirloin carpaccio and asparagus risotto, plus four-cheese or seafood pizzas, pastas, and entrees like veal medallions with porcini mushrooms and roasted chicken with rosemary, lemon and caramelized shallots. For dessert, the gelati (Italian ice creams)--pistachio, c... read more
Disappointing – This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend and encouraged by it's great review in the Zagat guide. I couldn't wait to try it, however after my experience, I have no idea what it is that people like about this restaurant. The decor is nice, but the acoustics are awful. It was so loud inside that I had to struggle to hear my date and the waiter couldn't hear us when he was four feet away. I was willing to forgive these flaws if the food was worth it, but again I was disappointed with a bland entree. I a... read more
WONDERFUL!! – This place is fantastic! We came for my husbands birthday and had a great time! the food was excellent and the prices were VERY reasonable for Chicago! We ordered 2 drinks a piece, an appetizer, dinner and dessert and spent only $20 more (including tip) then we did for lunch at some tourist spot!! Our waitress was great and we rather liked the high intesity and hustle that was going on around us. It was well worth doing a little reasearch before we went out. I highly recomend Mia Francesca to anyone looking for... read more
not great, not bad – I think all theraving about this place has to be strictly on atmosphere. The appetizers were bought packaged I gaurantee and not nade there. We had peperoncinin stuffed with cheese. Definitely pulled from a purchased container and put on our plate to serve. Food was just average.....you get what you pay for here. It's not expensive and the food is NOT great. It's just okay. The outdoor bar in back though is really nice and I might go there again next time I am in te mood to eat avergage Italian outdoors.... read more
Chicago's Best! – Best place in the city no matter what the occasion!
The bomb – This here is a winner! With lots of Italian restaurants to choose from, competition is high! This place delivers on all levels...food, ambiance, service, and value!
Splendid – This is the ultimate place to bring a date. The front might be a little crowded, so I suggest going back to the coach house. The food and dessert is just awesome... I'm not sure how else to describe it. The service was fast & attentive as well. Enough said. RD P.S. In my opinion, it was worth the wait.
my favorite restaurant in chicago and now even after having kids, i can still enjoy it because it's so bustling - that no one notices my little noise makers!
