You absolutely must be present as they are building the home. Take pictures and let them know things you notice. If you are not present, you will still need to make sure you get an inspection. It is a must. Compare to other building companies, I hear that M/I is better than others. While we still had issues, I can just imagine the problems we would have had if we had gone with another builder. Closed on our house In 2020. I agree with some of the other posters, do not let them talk you out of getting your own inspection. Within the first year, we used our warranty to review issues such as the dishwasher leaking— as they sent someone out who said the dishwasher was fine, just this year an inspection showed that not only was the dishwasher installed incorrectly, the wires were left exposed which could have caused a fire since it was over the leak pan. Horrible experience from day one. Nothing but lies starting with the Sales person, Mary Vernsk. Once you sign a contract they dont care about anything else. Im very unhappy with the their customer service. We couldnt see colors or materials for a house before it was built. Mary told lies from day one to force us in signing a contract. I have spoken to upper management and they dont seem to care no response from anyone. I did talk to a Sales Manager they refuse to let us find another house nor willing to work with us. Had a lot of issues with builder since they did a terrible job with the HVAC and they didn’t respond under the warranty to fix their design errors. Their contractor Mills Air are as bad as them, their manager’s are a joke. They filled the backyards with cheap material, don’t expect top soil.
