Long-time reputation for good food – If you're used to Mexican Town or Xochi's, you might find Mexican Fiesta isn't as authentic. But, we like the old Detroit favorites and still enjoy Mexican Fiesta very much. For one thing, it's a very convenient location for us and the food is very good. Sure they have french fries, etc., on the menu, but if you've ever tried to take your family of five somewhere where the kids can get their french fries while the adults get something other than fries...well...you appreciate those choices... read more
Is that guy nuts? – I've eaten at both locations since I was a kid and it's the best Mexican you're finding in Detroit if you ask me. There's more mexican on their menu than he gives credit for, believe me! The botana is out of this world (and the size of that planet it's from), and everything else is great, too. Ignore that guy.
How can you not like this place?? – We've gone to this place a number of times, and we're always EXTREMELY pleased! This is one of our top two mexican restaurants... the other is New Mexico (a VERY authentic place... that has coleslaw and fries as side dishes, by the way). There are a TON of good MEXICAN choices on this menu. Try the super tostada, the botana, the special dinner, the deep fried flour tacos. Everything is delicious! Including the coleslaw!
Faux Mexican – Any Mexican restaurant that offers coleslaw and french fries with your order of burritos is NOT a Mexican restaurant. There were hamburgers, chicken entrees, and a million other 'all-american' fare to choose from, with the 'mexican' entrees only taking up 1/4 of the menu. Not what I expected with the misleading name... it should be called 'All-American Food (with a little bit of Mexican thrown in)'. Don't waste your time if you're looking for true mexican... head to Mexicantown instead.
