As a physician who works in the medical center, I am appalled at how poorly the doctors and providers communicate with the patient and family. My husband was admitted with encephalopathy and it’s documented in the HPI that history was obtained from his wife at bedside, which was false. I have enjoyed our doctor there but I just attempted to schedule a virtual visit and was ushered in the twelve levels of hell. What a mess. "Yes, you can schedule a visit so pay $40. Wait, no! You can't have a virtual visit. Oh wait, okay, we'll let you have a virtual visit." In the meantime, I had closed my connection and you needed an engineering degree to figure out what to do next. Horrible, horrible customer service and I'm out $40. Go somewhere else.
My family member is currently in Houston Methodist and our experience had been very good until he left the IMU and came to the main hospital room. Here on the 6th floor they almost totally ignore the patient unless its time for medication. He has Parkinsons and came in for a UTI that turned septic, and has been here 10 days so far, but since he left IMU they have not changed his old IV lines that have been in more than a week and look dirty, he has not been bathed and his care giver who comes daily said the techs are rude wh... read more
