After some years I took the strength to evaluate it. I appreciate that it was the only place that helped me in one of the hardest crises of my life. All the personnel are kind and helpful. However, I would appreciate they would have more resources. Most of the people that arrived there do not have economical resources to be in another place. I was voluntarily seen at the crisis stabilization unit and it wasn’t great. There was a constant sound of screaming coming from behind a door leading to some other unit or area. They just had one person watch us and keep four of us in a room for 8 hours, and then eventually I got to speak to a nurse. While I was there, they also had someone try to come in for heroin detox, and they legit asked him to sleep on the street until a bed was available. That is insane. I had an extremely unpleasant "visit" to Meridian's crisis stabilization unit. I had stopped taking my SSRI and had a mental crisis and voluntarily agreed to go to the crisis unit. When I was there, I had to wait 8 hours to be seen by a nurse. I never got to see any sort of psychologist, physician, social worker, NP, PA, or anything. I will say the two nurses were very nice and that was the only positive of any of this.
