This restaurant got its start by catering to the overflow crowds from nearby Ninfa's, but it was not long before it was attracting crowds on its own merits. The huge Mayan-based mural, transports diners to another world and inspires a lot of conversation. Specialties from the Yucatan, like black bean and pork combinations, join with Tex-Mex to form the menu. Order one of the stellar margaritas from the full bar and settle in for a fabulous meal the entire family will enjoy.

Excellent. – Stopped in for the first time this weekend, and wish I'd have gone here sooner. I got the Merida special combo plate, which among other things included a couple panuchos, and it was great! The portions were also pretty big, and I had to get a to-go box...something I rarely do. Service was above average. The chips were excellent, but the salsa was kinda watery in my opinion...but it still tasted pretty good. The place was nice, albeit a little bit cramped/loud. I'll be back!
Best salsa in town – Simply put... the finest salsa I have ever tasted. When I first moved to Houston in 1999 after graduating from college, I lived in this area in the heart of Second Ward (East End for those trying to make it sound trendier). I used to go here all the time because it was very affordable and I especially loved their warm salsa and fresh chips.
